This glue is soooo fun to remove. Not.
Oh yea, I rolled 180k the other week.
Washed! I've also been playing with polishers and compounds.

My first attempt at anything to do with paint. It's not even close to perfect, just a rough job to get the surface flat for the dip to go on.

Wet sanded with 1000, 1500, 2500, then 3000. After that I sprayed some duplicolor clear. Outside in the wind haha. And 100% humidity. I'll take it!

You don't sand before you put the clear on. You sand after.

Edit, you only sanded the clear off then sprayed new clear on top?

I fucking hate plastidip. I'm sorry. The idea of opening the doors of my flat blue car to see bright red door jambs is boggling.

Keep it Amulet Red, it's a great color.

Out of curiosity what does one get charged for a "professional" Plati dip job?

I dipped mine myself. Id never do it again. Nothing beats real paint even if its faded or peeling. For the price of professional dip job you could get a touch up paint job. My buddy just got his mk5 r32 touched up and rust removed for $800 and it was bad in some spots.

I sanded the rough edges flush, then sprayed.

It's okay. And they're doing the jambs too. The amulet red is a great color but the paint is beat. 13 years of Midwest heat and hail and cruddy owners who don't know how to care for paint are the cause of that. At the end of the day it's just a $4200 dollar car that has 180,000 on it. Any real paint repair would be probably over 1000.

Buffalo dips charges 950. Which is infuckingsane. My local guy is charging 550. Which in happy to pay to beat my ocd back into submission . Even just thinking about that paint makes me anxious.

Fuck that save the extra money and get real paint.

Sucks, spending 550 on something that will fade and get peeled off and be back to square one is like lighting money on fire.

Dip will fade, it will look like shit and you'll peel off 550$ and throw it in the trash

Your touch up job looks pretty decent, fuck it

Honestly, the mental image of peeling off 550 dollars off a car might have changed my mind..

Traded my rs4 reps for stock sport wheels.

Installed new plugs, ngk iridium 6's gapped at .040.

I have a bunch of parts on the way, including 034 street density trans mount and rear diff carrier inserts.
