Lets say you had around $15k - $20k to spend on a car. you live in the city of buffalo. you commute about 25 minutes daily. you enjoy driving 5/6 speed manual. you want something

    quick
    fun
    reliable
    decent in the snow
    not a maintenance pig
    ok mpgs (30-ish)
    comfortable (heated seats and such)
    MUST be 4 door

keep in mind that this would be your one and only car.

what would you buy and why?

My 1.8t B6 was painfully boring to drive. Nice in every other category.

I would gun for a B7 if anything.

I feel like the higher cost and possibility of more problems would tell me to stay away from the B7. I guess the 3.2 would be a good choice, although I'm not sure they came with 3 pedals.

I was basically in your shoes about a month ago and bought a new Mazda 3 hatch. Under 20 grand, sweet shifting six speed, really nice handling for an econo car, really nice interior with a really good infotainment system, High 30s doing regular driving, super cheap financing and there were a few rebates. Japanese car reliability, but not econo trim Honda/Toyota boring. No heated seats on my "base" iSport. I put "base" in quotation marks because the lowest trim 3 hatch has a 7 inch Infotainment screen that bluetooth streams pandora and other apps, keyless start, and really comfortable supportive seats. I can't be happier with my purchase.

Let me know if you want to take it for a spin.

Based on where jam lives and where his work is he would probably go way over the miles on a lease

I'm thinking about selling my element and civic si to have one car. I was shocked at how much em1 si's are going for on ebay. I should have never looked haha.

but then im thinking why not just sell the element and buy an older tsx or e39 e46 or tl and keep the si? something around $6k. I already have a reliable AWD Honda SUV, no need for 2.

stupid baby throwing a wrench in the works!!! JK. shes pretty cool.
