I am in love with the old B5 audi a4 avant.
I just got my new project car, a 2001 1.8L avant and will be doing a 2004 S4 engine swap on it, basically a true sleeper. (
    4.2 L V8 40v 2xDOHC).
I already have a pretty good idea of the amount of work necessary and money is not an issue. (not rich just dedicated)
Please tell me what you think, your ideas and what to look out for.
BTW I have full mechanical shop access, so no worries concerning tools needed.

    94 Corrado G60 2.9L conversion/490HP
    2005 mazda3 2.3L/240HP (wife's car)
    2001 Audi A4 1.8L avant/project car
Race on track or in the hills not in town!!!

I'm sure it will be a challenge at best. I'm most definitely not a fan of that powertrain, but good luck with it anyway.

Yeah, dont really see the point. The V8 is no power monster, just kinda nice to drive if you get my point. Id say you are much better off finding a B5 S4.
    Also, what is a "94 Corrado G60 2.9L conversion/490HP"?

maybe it started off as a g60 then he swapped a 2.9l vr6 and slapped a turblow on it?

Just wondering your reasoning for your engine choice?

Just wondering why do don't buy an s4 avant with the motor in it already, as uncle jam said earlier...?

I like the idea, since I love that particular motor, but do you have a tranny that can handle that much torque? Welcome! We will hate on your project all day long until you get it done, by the way...

The cost to adapt this V8 to a B5 will far overrun the cost of an 04 S4 Avant. JMHO, of course

    Jason is dead on.

Way less money and time to just go buy one.

ill have to agree, i doubt it will be much of a sleeper, not to say im against it. but perhaps brush up on a few other motors to transplant in there.. or build the 1.8t in there? there are plenty of members here that can help you with any Q's.

if your dead set on that V8 in there- it will be an awesome sounding B5 to say the least- like i said i'm always down for something different. good luck!

you should totally look into swapping a c5 rs6 twin turbo v8 instead.
i bet it would be super easy and cheap!!!!!
no need to cheap out on just an n/a v8...
