I figured I'd make a new build thread since my other one for this car was kind-of all over the place.

First and foremost, this was my jetta.

^ I'll try and keep this brief, but this car is what got me into the VW community and I've met everyone I know on here through it. I'm still kicking myself for getting rid of it. If you want to read about it or what was done to it, all of that can be found here:

Now for some background on the .:R,

During the spring/summer of 2015, I was deep into my Jetta. It had everything I envisioned for it minus a few things. I was at the point where all I could do with it would be a votex kit and then switching out the wheels every so often. As satisfied as I was with the car as a whole, I just didn't see myself behind the wheel of it any longer.

I was fond of .:R32's, MK4's especially. But I wasn't against the idea of a MKV. After browsing the market and seeing the difference in price between a low mileage MK4 and a low mileage MKV, I decided that the MKV was probably a better option for me. I wanted to wait until the new year (2016) to get myself into one but then one day while browsing the vortex classifieds on break, I stumbled across a deal that was too good to pass up. The following week I drove to NYC and brought it home.

    - In NYC right after I shook the guy's hand and he handed me the keys!

Eddie you are such a ****.

I just noticed the shaved hatch, looks siq. I assume you put the air setup off your MK6 on this thing?

    Looking great.
I'm curious, how do you open the hatch now that it's shaved?
I know the remote/button only unlocked it, so what's actually releasing the catch now?

Yeah I noticed that after it was already posted haha.

Everything from the mk6 transferred over minus the front struts and rear shocks. I picked up a set of used airlift slam fronts that needed the top hats rebuilt and then as far as rear shocks, I ran stock rear shocks on the jetta w/o the bump stops. I figured I might as well upgrade this time rather than cut corners.

I know it's basic now but it will be more than a bags and wheels car soon. I JUST got rid of my jetta like a week ago. Making two car payments didn't really allow for parts $$

    I was thinking a 335i swap.

    lol

But yeah if I keep it Mullets or DIA's, I need a fat faced wheel in my life.

You should find my old SSRs that were on that blue Beetle most recently. He sold the car with them. They're the only 9/10" set in the states.

So I got my tires mounted yesterday and I threw the wheels on for a quick test fit. I knew I was gonna regret getting AS-1s again... God damn lip protectors... This is at -2, I'm gonna try and pull the quarters a hair to clear the tire.

Other than the lip protectors I don't really mind them.

Plus if I wanna do anything crazy with the car that the AS-1's can't handle, I'll throw the stocks on.

I've been giving it some thought and I might debag this thing and throw some coils on. I'll probably end up changing my mind in a few days but idk we'll see.
